The district of Nea Chora extends north-west of the City. It is a waterfront area and it can be reached if one follows the seaside road beyond the Venetian Harbour to the west.
Here there are some excellent fish tavernas (try the Akrogiali) and a fine sandy beach along the waterfront; it is used a lot by locals and tourists for swimming during the summer. There is also a lovely small harbour which enhances the feeling of the sea. Nea Chora is quite close to city close, making it easy to go there for shopping.
