Stalos is a waterfront touristic village which is located 7 km west of the city of Chania. It is made-up by a long, endless, sandy beach and an interesting waterfront with small hotels, cafes, restaurants and shops. It is an ideal place to combine unwind and relaxing holidays with choices of intense nightlife in the nearby villages of Platanias and Agia Marina; moreover the Chania Old Town is very near to visit.
There are numerous shops, restaurants, cafes and tavernas along the seaside road that connects Chania to the west waterfront villages; here you can find all the necessary everyday facilities. The accommodation is dispersed in the whole village; you can find hotels and apartments mainly in the waterfront, and villas with great views on the cliffs in the south.
On the sandy beach of Stalos there is the beach bar Mambo where you can relax while listening to music; the sandy beach extends for many kms so is is easy to find a more peaceful place to relax if you prefer this. Along the beach you can try some sports such as beachvolley, beach tennis, water-cycling. You can also admire the lovely views on the islet of Agioi Theodoroi.
Maria's restaurant in the center of the village is a very good choice for food. The taverna Merovigli 1,7 km south to the cliff, in the ''Ano Stalos'' village, is another very good choice for traditional food. There are more food choices along the main waterfront road and in the nearby Platanias (try the Mylos tou Kerata).
If you want to have a drink during the night you can either try the Mambo bar or another smaller bar in the waterfront. Moreover, it is easy to go to the nearby Agia Marina in the great clubs ''De-Stijl'' and ''Island'' or to the village of Platanias in the bars ''Splendid'', ''Tropicano'', ''Mylos'' to have even more fun; the villages are in 2-3 km distance.
There is frequently bus service from Chania every 15 minutes. The time-distance from the harbour of Souda and the international airport of Akrotiri is about 25 minutes if you come from the New National Road, otherwise it may take longer. The village''s good transportation network and its position (next to the knot of the National road of Crete, close to Chania but also in the countryside) gives the visitor of Stalos the opportunity to travel fast and easily to most of the sights of the district of Chania and Crete.
