🥾 IMBROS GORGE EXCURSION

Discover the impressive beauty of Imbros Gorge, the second-longest gorge in Crete and one of the island’s most enjoyable hiking routes. With its dramatic rock formations, narrow passages and beautiful natural scenery, it is an excellent alternative to Samaria Gorge.

The hike begins at the traditional village of Imbros and follows a scenic route through the gorge to Komitades. The walking distance is approximately 9 km, and the descent takes around 2.5–3 hours.

After completing the hike, the excursion continues to Frangokastello, where you will have free time to swim in the Libyan Sea, relax on the beach or enjoy lunch at a traditional taverna.

🕒 Indicative programme

07:00–08:45: Pick-up from selected points
09:40: Arrival at Imbros Gorge
10:00: Start of the hike
13:00: Exit from the gorge
13:10: Arrival at Frangokastello
15:00: Departure from Frangokastello
17:00–17:30: Return to Chania

📅 Departure days

The excursion operates every Monday and Wednesday from the Chania, Kissamos, Akrotiri and Kalyves–Almyrida areas.

🎒 What to bring

Proper hiking shoes and socks, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, drinking water, a light snack, swimwear and a beach towel are recommended.

The hike has a relatively low level of difficulty, but it is not recommended for pregnant women, elderly guests or people with health conditions or mobility problems.
