Old Town
Chanias gamle by betragtes som en af de smukkeste i Grækenland, og det er den mest vidunderlige del af hele byen. Den gamle by består af den gamle venetianske havn, og de små husblokke placeret lige bag. Det karakteristiske ved byen er de mange tilbageblevne venetianske og tyrkiske bygninger, de smalle og maleriske stræder som en nærmest henrivende labyrint.
De fleste af bygningerne er restaureret og indgår som et puslespil af samtidig venetiansk arkitektur, der viser alle aspekter af den gamle bys historie.
De venetianske og tyrkiske bygninger anvendes i dag som offentlige bygninger, mindre hoteller, restauranter, barer og museer.
